As a fun side project (and because my apartment looked a little spartan for my taste) I built a media console for my living room.
I created an SVG template for the panels of the console in Adobe Illutrator. I then imported the SVG into vCarve, and cut the pieces using a CNC router. I then stained all the pieces red and finished them with lacquer.
Lastly, I purchased steel threaded rods and clear plastic tubing from a hardware store, and steel hairpin legs online. Cutting the tubing to identical 1” strips, I then spaced out the wood panels, giving it a “floating” appearance.
